Marie Chouinard Performance
For the 30th edition of International Symposium of Contemporary Art of Baie-Saint-Paul, Marie Chouinard will present, in World Premiere, her preformance IN MUSEUM, Friday August 31st and Saturday September 1st, 2012, from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM at MACBSP (free admission).
A world premiere; a solo performance created and interpreted by Marie Chouinard. Lasting close to three hours, the performance takes place in a museum, at the time of the day when the sun is at its highest point. Within an open space, the performance takes the shape of a presence, of an exchange between the artist and the public. A privileged exchange with Marie Chouinard, because she is there, she speaks with you, she dances and executes drawings. More than one of the senses are stimulated and a contact is established between the dancer and the visitors who are free to move around. Because of the exceptional character of the venues, this solo in situ created for museums is a unique and timeless performance.
Since her first solo creation in 1978, entitled Crystallisation, Marie Chouinard keeps expanding the limits of stage performance. In 1990, she founded COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD. Over the years, the COMPAGNIE has performed over 1,000 times on the most prestigious stages, with memorable performances such as The Rite of Spring, bODY_rEMIX/gOLDBERG_vARIATIONSand THE GOLDEN MEAN (LIVE). Marie Chouinard’s opus also includes literary, multimedia and cinematographic works.
