Every August, by invitation of a curator, some 15 artists from here and beyond converge in Baie-Saint-Paul to create a work in the presence of the public. They have exactly one month to do so under the intrigued and sometimes perplexed gaze of visitors. “What are you doing?” is the oft-repeated question that leads to dialogue.

The originality and success of the Symposium are based on this direct interaction between the artist and the public, which is a truly enriching experience for everyone. Artists receive immediate feedback on their work and can appreciate their creation through the eyes of the Other... many Others! Visitors discover new talents, unexpected artistic techniques and original ways of experiencing, conceiving and dreaming the world.
