The Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul (MACBSP) is the only museum in eastern Québec that is entirely devoted to contemporary art. The Symposium also provides an opportunity for artists to spend time in a region of Québec which has inspired - and which continues to inspire - many generations of artists. Accession to the status of museum has not been an end in itself for the Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul; rather, this distinction has brought additional responsibilities which impel management as well as artists to a level of demands that borders on excellence.
